TraceMyTag is built on privacy. This policy explains how we protect your personal information.

1. Data Minimization & Privacy First

We believe in storing as little personal data as possible. We do not request, store, or require phone numbers, physical addresses, names, or social media links.

2. What Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum information required to operate the service: - **Email Address**: Used strictly for account authentication and dispatching secure owner alerts. - **Uploads & Messages**: Any item photos or chat messages you choose to enter to coordinate recovery. - **Session Identification Cookies**: Used to keep you logged in and authorize anonymous chat rooms.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share user data with third-party advertisers or marketers. Conversations between finders and owners are fully restricted, masked, and anonymous.

4. Image Storage

Any asset pictures uploaded are stored either on secure hosting services (such as ImgBB) or locally inside our server volume, strictly to display them to owners and finders on the scan and chat pages.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to authorize session tokens. Finder identities are tracked using the `finder_session_id` cookie, which is stored locally in the browser and remains anonymous.
